Ash Wednesday 2021

INTRO: Raise your right hand if you ever watched a Basketball Game on TV?

Now RAISE both hands if you ever went to a STADIUM to watch a football or baseball game?

I thought so….. All of you were like SPECTATORS, watching the games on TV or in the stadium. I am sure you get a charge out of watching… I remember my FATHER being very vocal about what he was watching….

“They get paid so much money they shouldn’t be fumbling the ball!!”

Today we begin the season of LENT. And the church has designed this season for us to NOT BE SPECTATORS; just watching the 40 days go by, but, to get involved…. Not sit on the sidelines or on the couch!!!

I am sure you understand this….

We are asked to
Pray
Fast or give up something
&
To give of ourselves to someone or something.

What prayer do you know best that you can remember to do 40 times?

What are you going to give up?

What extra “service” will you perform?

So you came to GET STARTED as an involved Catholic.

CONCLUSION
Let the Word of God and the Eucharist lead you through these days.
