Pastor Letter – Deacon Joe Menkhaus – Emailed April 1, 2022

Dear Parishioners,

IHM has been blessed with the pastoral and liturgical help of Deacon Joseph Menkhaus. He arrived last May 19 in 2021 and will conclude his service to IHM on the weekend of May 7-8, 2022!

In his last month here, Deacon Joe will be a TREMENDOUS help with the Holy Week and Easter liturgical services. He continues to attend the Encounter School on Tuesday evenings, collaborates with the elementary school by teaching in the classrooms on Mondays, visiting the children in PSR, and has prepared a couple for the Sacrament of Matrimony, presiding over their wedding in late April.

When Deacon Joe leaves us, the seminary will then provide Deacon Joe with a retreat along with his classmates preparing them for priestly ordination. For your information, his priestly ordination is open TO THE PUBLIC. So, if anyone wants to attend you are free to do so.

ORDINATION TO THE PRIESTHOOD
Saturday, May 21, 2022
10:00am
It would be best to arrive early
CATHEDRAL OF SAINT JOHN THE EVANGELIST
1007 SUPERIOR AVENUE
CLEVELAND, OHIO 44114

Also, SAVE THE DATE for SUNDAY, June 5, 2022, at the 10:00am Mass where the newly ordained Father Joseph Menkhaus will celebrate a MASS OF THANKSGIVING for us. This happens to be the Solemnity of Pentecost. Keep in mind that our Parish Pastoral Council will prepare a reception at IHM for him after that Mass so our parishioners can congratulate him, wishing him well in his priestly service for our diocese.

At this time, he has not received his priestly assignment, but when he does, you will be informed!

Many blessings,
Father Jim
