Pastor Letter – Update from Fr. Jim – Emailed November 2, 2020

Dear Parishioners,

I am just offering a reminder and a clarification about Saturday, November 7th and beyond.

Last week, on October 29th, 2020 the Governor DID NOT DECLARE Summit County as level 4 (purple).  We remain at level 3 (red).  When we turned red from level two (orange) a number of weeks before that, I felt it necessary to cut back on 2 weekend Masses and NO CONFESSIONS, trying to give our parishioners a semblance of can’t live life normal and go about as if nothing is happening.  Also, the dispensation remained in effect.  Plus, confessions could be placing the priest in an awkward situation as to not knowing where the penitent had been or if they were carrying the virus.  So these were stopped.

Well, as we now begin the month of November, first Saturday of the month is always a BIG confession need for many people.  Because of that, I will begin having confessions (wearing masks) on November 7th and throughout the entire month and also restore the four weekend masses (masks required) for the entire month. We will keep the 10:00am Mass LIVE STREAMED and open to the public.

I want our parishioners to receive the sacraments, yet, continue to respect our parishioners who feel that they and their family are not yet ready to attend Mass or be out in public gatherings.

I am on vacation beginning Sunday, November 8th through Monday November 23rd, 2020 but, will continue to respond to the coronavirus levels in Summit County when I am away making any needed adjustments to the mass schedule.  Hopefully I won’t have to do that and Summit County lowers its level.  We will see.

Thanks for all you do,
Father Jim
