Preparing the Church for Reopening – Emailed May 21, 2020

Dear Flock,

It is a work in progress getting the church ready for Mass with all the social distancing requirements.

What you see is the center aisle in the main nave. Notice the arrows for the foot traffic pattern and the 6’ communion line for one line ONLY communion distribution, rather than two lines. As you are looking at this picture on the far left at the wall that aisle is ENTRY ONLY and the far right that aisle is EXIT ONLY. In other words, you cannot walk out of the church in the same doorway you walked in. The side naves are the same. Rows are taped off marking the 6’ distance. For now, disregard “GREEN” colored tape which was used for practice. It will be brown to match the pews. Remember, if you come in a car together you may sit shoulder to shoulder, otherwise parishioners need to honor the 6’ social distancing in pews that are available for use.

Because we will have limited seating, I was approached with an interesting idea that theaters are using, but, it involves technology and not all mass goers have that ability to RESERVE ahead of time A SEAT for the Mass. The APP is called SIGN-UP GENIUS. If it needs to come to that I will look into it.

Now considering the church doors; for ENTRY ONLY, MASKS REQUIRED, both the east and west entrance doors off the main parking lot have clear signs marking ENTRY ONLY/EXIT ONLY. The TWO MAIN HANDICAPPED DOORS facing Portage Trail; one side ENTRY ONLY and the other side EXIT ONLY. Lastly, the Portage Trail “side doors”; EAST side ENTRY ONLY, WEST side EXIT ONLY.

Once again, I am welcoming you back to church for daily masses beginning on Monday, May 25th, 2020 for 8:00 AM and weekend masses (for now at least) Sunday 10:00 AM and 4:30 PM.

Many blessings,
Father Jim
