Welcome Deacon Joseph Menkhaus, Jr.!

Dear Parishioners,

Saturday, April 17, 2021 was the date at Saint John’s Cathedral in Cleveland when Bishop Edward Malesic ordained men to the transitional deacon for service in our diocese. The following year May, 2022 they will be ordained to the priesthood. This diaconal service is different than the permanent deacon of which Deacon Will Yoho and his wife, Liz, share.

Out of the four men that were ordained for transitional diaconate service in our diocese, IHM will receive one of them for service at IHM, beginning May 17, 2021 and continuing until his priesthood ordination in May, 2022!

Welcome, Deacon Joseph Menkhaus, Jr.!

Deacon Menkhaus will live at the IHM Rectory beginning, Monday, May 17, 2021 through August 17, 2021, then return to the seminary for his last year of preparation for ordination but, will live again at IHM Rectory on almost every weekend until the priesthood ordination 2022. He will preach, work with marriages, baptisms, and bereavement/funeral services.

I am excited to have a transitional deacon. His responsibilities will be focused on sacramental duties.

Just wanted you to have a “heads up” on this!

Many blessings,
Father Jim
