Little Black Books: Your companion for Lent
The goal is to find six minutes of quiet time every day to walk through this book, a page at a time. Six minutes. That’s within reach. And it pays big returns.

Area Lenten Communal Penance Service

Fasting & Abstinence
Fasting binds all Catholics who have completed their 18th year through the day of their 59th birthday to one full meal and two small (amounts) meals.
Abstinence for all Catholics over 14 years of age from all meat and meat products.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of FAST and ABSTINENCE. ALL Fridays during Lent are days of ABSTINENCE. NOTE 1) These rules are considered a MINIMAL response to the Lord’s call to penance and conversion. We should seek to do MORE rather than less–in the Spirit of spiritual sacrifice. 2) Priests may dispense those whose medications or medical/physical conditions might be jeopardized by these rules.
Lenten Prayer Before Meal
O God, I pray for all those around the world who struggle with hunger and suffer from malnutrition. Grant them strength and courage as they work to create a better life for themselves and their communities. May conflicts cease, crops flourish, and good governance grow. In the name of Jesus, who is the Bread of Life for the world. Amen.
The steadfast love of he Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning ; great is your faithfulness. -Lamentations 3:22-23
