INTRO: A woman left church on a Sunday morning and was shopping at a small outdoor stand near her New York city apartment.

She noticed a homeless woman looking over the fruits and vegetables there. She immediately went up to the woman and asked if she would like to choose something from the assortment.

The poor woman said quietly……I would love a bunch of those green grapes.

“Great!” the New York woman said…and picked out a bunch, paid for them, and handed them to the poor homeless woman….
who then looked into the bag and then back at the woman who just gave them to her!!!!and said…

You know…this is a lot of grapes,
won’t you share them with me?

And there in the middle of a NEW YORK street corner the homeless woman ate grapes with one whose GENEROSITY was terrific!

What happened in the grape-sharing between those two women “mirrors” the Eucharistic experience, the CORPUS CHRISTI experience, the Mass experience!!!!

You see, the Eucharistic sacrament, is, the VISIBLE SIGN where God’s invisible grace comes within us,
And transforms our very behaviors.
YES, transforms our very behaviors!

[IT IS WHAT HAPPENS TO US AFTER RECEIVING HOLY COMMUNION]

Our very behaviors are RENOVATED, RE-MODELED, AND MENDED after receiving the invisible real presence of Jesus Christ in Holy Communion. This is our Catholic teaching… we become different here, then when we walked in!

God’s invisible grace affects us after we reverently participate in this visible sign.

God’s invisible grace moved that New York city apartment woman to act charitably, to respond to an opportunity to “raise up” another human being. She was moved to do so because of God’s grace within her.
