Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Homily – July 10, 2022

15th Sunday in Ordinary Time 2022 C

Intro: You may know this about me, or you may not, but I am an
“IMPULSE BUYER!!”

For Christmas and birthdays for my brother or sisters, nieces, and nephew …. I buy FAST! And I do not do a lot of “CALCULATION” in getting these things,
“Do I get this or not?” or “Do I get that?” “Will they like this?”

I see it and get it and so far, it has not broken my bank!
“IMPULSE BUYER”

I do not recommend this action of impulse buying for you, better to think or calculate if it is affordable or not if it is the right choice or not.

But I do promote:
“IMPULSE CHARITY.”

The PRIEST and the LEVITE were not impulsive in their charity to the man who fell victim to the robbers!
They calculated do I do this or not and, in their calculation, they left him on the road half-dead.

Our Catholic Christian is not that way. When a need for charity from us comes into our path we respond, immediately, or at least we should.

You know as well as I that many times the unexpected comes when we least expect or when we are so busy. The unexpected comes to us for the exceptionally good reason and that is to raise us each to a higher standard of Christian life. TO:
“IMPULSE CHARITY!”

You must love this story. The Samaritan teaches us JESUS’S WAYS!

I heard a story about IMPULSE CHARITY.

Here a car was broken down on the side of the road, hood up, wintertime, family shivering in the car, dad tinkering in the engine.

Beautifully, another car stopped, no calculation from the driver; should I stop or not? what if it is a ploy? he simply charitably stopped. The driver happened to be a mechanic and got the car running. The driver then followed to car to its destination “just in case.”
“IMPULSE CHARITY”
CONCLUSION:

In all the stories in the bible about Jesus, He responds to others immediately to give assistance, assurance, healing, and love. You and I are asked to do the same.

Allow our holy communion today to raise us to higher standard of impulse charity by simply:
Listening to others
Spending time with others
Initiating home chores for our family.
Let us be a community of IMPULSE CHARITY!
