First Sunday of Lent c 2022
INTRO:
Well, I have often mentioned in my homily’s small bits of information about my family and growing up. You may remember that John and I (the twins) were the second birth in the Singler family. The first was my older sister!
She was PERFECT in every way.
She never did anything wrong.
She never cried or got into trouble.
She was ANNOYINGLY amazing!
So, one day my twin (Johnny)had a gleam in his eye when he came up to me and then mentioned “that we should do something mean” to my sister!!!
He tempted me! And I fell into the temptation! And we did it!
I guess, as children we do think of wicked things to tantalize our siblings. It is somewhat natural, though NOT at all Christian.
Now that we are in our sixties, those kinds of temptations do not enter our minds between brothers and sisters.
That is a good thing and the reason being comes from the repetition of celebrating the SACRAMENTS.
Baptized Catholics NEED to use
Confession
Eucharist
Confirmation
But please know that THERE IS A DEVIL. And the devil does tempt you and me. We all have those reoccurring sins that we try and rid ourselves of. We each should work diligently, and YOU ARE doing so.
That is why you are here…to receive the REAL PRESENCE of Jesus Christ, to have him help you rid yourselves of undesirable ways.
Nice Going
CONCLUSION
Even though my twin brother tempted me early on in life, I never called him a DEVIL. But remember there is a devil; one who tempts you and me and so we must be strong in the Lord as active members of our church!
