First Sunday of Advent 2019 (A)

INTRO: “Raise your hands if you think I’m pretty clever”

LOL

Well I am pretty clever…. It was a while ago that I, in my cleverness… planned a SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY for my TWIN BROTHER.
Get it?? My twin….. I thought that was pretty clever and it worked out and it became MY PARTY TOO!!!

He was surprised!
And I was READY!

We know not the time or the hour when Our Lord will come, it will be a surprise……… so we are told to …… BE READY!

We can all be doing the ORDINARY THINGS of life:

Like ……. Being out in the field …………
Or …………Grinding at the mill ………….
And that is just what our ADVENT SEASON doesn’t want of each of us. This season of ADVENT doesn’t want us to be just doing the ORDINARY things of life!!!

And not necessarily are we to be doing the extraordinary things of life, ALTHOUGH THAT WOULD BE OKAY….. But, in reality we are to do
LIFE…
1. By being PROUD TO BE A FOLLOWER OF JESUS, and
2. Belonging/registering to a church.

Sometimes that PRIDE is missing in our minds, hearts, and souls…… sometimes we forget JESUS in our daily routines, that He is our FRIEND/brother/partner in our lives

And secondly that allegiance to a church community may be taken for granted and KEPT UNDER WRAPS or we’ve not made that commitment by officially registering at the church office. That kind of official allegiance says A LOT about us … that we’ve made a commitment to belonging to a church.

You know how it is….. Can’t mention CHURCH THINGS in public!!!

Now, you don’t have to wear T-SHIRTS that say
I BELONG TO IHM …. That might be clever though …. ???

But we do DISPLAY our allegiance to colleges/High schools/ places we visit……on our automobiles!!!

Why not in our conversations???

Be PROUD to be connected to JESUS
Be PROUD to belong to a church.
