Dear Parishioners,
I feel like there are so many things to catch you up on. There is never a dull day here at IHM!
- Father Ralph is back at the Rectory slowly rehabbing his hip with exercise, but, in addition to him coming home “something” happened to the heal of his foot, making it a painful walk for him. Poor guy cannot shake this and is under the doctor’s care tomorrow, Tuesday, August 18. More information on him to come later. While he wants to get back at saying Mass, it cannot happen yet. Keep him in your prayers.
- Julie, while excellent at remote secretarial work since March 15, will come back to the office with regular office hours on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 which happens to be her daughter, Eloise’s first day for IHM Bright Beginnings Pre-K.
- I have mentioned it before, but, fundraising for the school operations, which used to be BINGO, is now a Car Raffle. Mike Iemma, IHM parishioner, will get for us a 2020 Ford Fusion from PARK FORD to be on display and raffled off on Saturday, December 5, 2020 after the 4:30pm Mass. FIRST PRIZE winner may receive the car or $15,000.00! To make it more available, due to COVID-19, parishioners will be sent home in the mail tickets to purchase for the raffle. There is a SECOND PRIZE, five lawn treatments from Chuck and Linda Ingersoll and Ingersoll Landscape. A THIRD PRIZE will be a gift card tree. I am most grateful to any and all purchases of the raffle tickets.
- School opening for the first day of either the option of IN SCHOOL LEARNING or SIMULTANEOUS LEARNING from the home will be Monday, August 31, 2020.
- PSR will begin, Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 11:15am and end at 1:15pm. With this new length of class time the PSR classes will be held EVERY OTHER SUNDAY or every two weeks. All will enter through the main school building door and have their temperatures checked. Understandably, parents will not be able to enter the APR, All Purpose Room, to gather and wait for their children at dismissal.
- RCIA is set to begin on Sunday September 13, 2020 in the McIntyre Room with Brian Kudro leading the inquiry of these adults and children on an almost weekly basis until the Easter Vigil, 2021, which is April 3, 2021.
- Many students are happy that CYO sports are allowed to practice, outdoors only, with many cautions in place. There are no games yet allowed between schools, just simply getting children practiced and readied with their own team members for their sports; like flag football, volleyball, football, and cross country.
- The 5K is now a VIRTUAL school fundraiser for the beginning of September. More details to follow on that!
- Ministry for the Needy began to open its operations with their weekly meetings in the convent to assist all calls for food, utilities, and rent employing sanitization methods for meeting clients and keeping safe.
I will keep doing my best to keep you connected to me and to one another as to what all is going on at IHM.
Many blessings,
Father Jim
