Holy Thursday 2020
INTRO
There is a set place for you and me……
+ When we were kids ….. There was a set place for each of us at the dinner table. I was always to the right of my father…. I was a S L O W – eater and he could help me speed things up!!!
+ When we went to church there was a set place at Mass. We sat in the 17th row, down the center aisle of our family church!! And the twins were separated by a MOM or a DAD!!!!
+ Even you out there … I can almost take attendance knowing were many of you sit, TABERNACLE side, HOLY FAMILY side, CENTER aisle!!!!
AMAZING, but, think about it:
THERE IS A SET PLACE FOR YOU AND ME.
AND, I mean MORE THAN just in the pew or at a dinner table!
I mean IN THE WORLD, even in today’s time with a world pandemic, covid – 19, the coronavirus!!
There is a set place for you and me in the world as followers of CHRIST and nourished by Christ. We are the people that are set with HIGH STANDARDS to be other CHRIST’S in the world, because of what we eat, even when we are not physically present….
Because we HAVE eaten this bread and drank from this cup YOU AND ME ARE EXPECTED TO BE DIFFERENT IN THIS WORLD, set apart as a HOLY PEOPLE and as a SERVICE PEOPLE.
Spiritually, CHRIST comes to you today, in your UPPER ROOMS, even when you are closed off from me and Father Ralph and our IHM community. Think about it…..
You have been spending more time in CONNECTING with your brothers and sisters, family and friends with the marvelous use of technology. You continue to “brighten” the day for others with your own personal outreach during this world pandemic.
That is what was meant by the “washing of feet”…. To be of help and service to those around us, as JESUS did, in the best ways we can, considering our world situation. Making the best of every situation in which we find ourselves.
CONCLUSION
Our Blessed Mother has taught you and me the best CHRISTIAN POSTURE when surprising and unexpected things happen to us, LIKE A WORLD PANDEMIC!
She was found to be with child and not having any relations with a man; a VERY unexpected situation, but she never doubted that GOD was against her… she said:
“LET IT BE DONE TO ME AS YOU SAY!”
So, when you are tempted to wonder what God is doing in this world pandemic, remember her not doubting the presence of God and accepting life on its own terms!
