Dear Parishioners,
As you might remember this summer has a HUGE project and capital expense of replacing the roof shingles on the church building, the convent building, and the rectory building. The importance of this much needed capital expense project, (totaling $122,000.00) protects all these buildings and especially on the church building, this offers us the ability to take on a future secondary capital expense project of renovating the interior of the church building and sanctuary. I would not want to do that renovation inside the church building without having the roof replaced.
This secondary capital expense has no target date, but the bishop has presently given me permission to outline and draw up a fresh look with the tabernacle being moved to the center of the sanctuary. For many this is an exciting change and in a spiritual way it brings Christ into the center of our church, as He is the center of OUR lives.
This first process involves prayer, reflection, and many drafts. I cannot say yet when there will be a final draft to share.
I will be meeting with the Henninger’s Religious Goods Architects for their input and craft. They are a fourth-generation company, have a great reputation, and have done many churches interior renovations in our diocese.
After IHM has a final draft and shared with you for any advice, I then need to present it to Bishop Malesic for his approval. When he approves it, my next step will be to have his permission to seek out bids for what this renovation will cost.
After I find out what this will cost, I will have to ask you for your financial help to make this a reality. While we have some money restricted for this future capital expense project there will need to be an IHM capital campaign. I am sure you understand.
Many blessings,
Father Jim
