Dear Parishioners,
After consideration of many responses from our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, which were overwhelmingly positive, my decision is to have two communion cups of consecrated wine to share with the congregation at each of our weekend Masses, plus, if possible, at our daily Masses as well.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE: The ministers who will be scheduled to share the precious blood of Jesus will NOT be required to consume any leftover precious blood. For the best health reasons those ministers would simply place the cup on the credence table and put the purificator on top. After mass, the precious blood will be reposed in the “sacrarium” in the sacristy.
This will take place beginning the weekend of June 1-2, 2024.
Only ministers who said they would share with you the Precious Blood will be scheduled and respectfully a minister who indicated that they would not want to be a communion cup minister will not be scheduled.
Once again, whoever takes just consecrated bread is still receiving the miraculous full presence of Jesus’s body and blood. Offering the communion cup is the representation of what Jesus did at the Last Supper.
Many blessings,
Father Jim
