Dear Parishioners,
May is just about here! But, wasn’t April a L O N G month??
Typically, within the liturgy of the Catholic Church, the month of May is dedicated to Our Blessed Mother. There is a ritual to be used during this month called
ORDER OF CROWNING AN IMAGE OF THE
BLESSED VIRGIN MARY WITHIN MASS
Our plans on this upcoming weekend, Sunday, May 3rd at the 10:00 am Mass is to honor the image (statue) of Mary. This will be live-streamed. We will be careful, social distancing, to accomplish this during the Mass. Limited participants will be required.
After the homily, two students will bring me the crown, with which the image of Mary is to be crowned. There is a prayer and a sprinkling with holy water and one student will place the crown on the image of Mary.
Perhaps in your own homes, as you witness our IHM livestream, you could have an image of Mary, prominently placed during the Mass and while at IHM the image is crowned you can be placing a flower at her feet or a crown on her head in your own home. Just an idea!
Later in the week, on Friday, May 8th at 9:30 am the annual IHM grade school 8th grade May Crowning will be taking place with limited participation. This para-liturgy will also be live-streamed.
Many blessings,
Father Jim
