Dear Parishioners,
All of us agree, that my role as Pastor during this pandemic, COVID-19, is to remain able to serve and minister to all of you safely in our church building and with good conscientiousness at its sanitization.
After some research, I made the decision to provide and install Global Plasma Solutions Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization air purification units into the HVAC systems in all our buildings; the IHM School, the All Purpose Room, the Gym, the McIntyre Room, the IHM Church Hall, and IHM Church building.
These are “fancy words” which basically means pathogens, like bacteria, mold, and viruses, are killed by the installation of these units. During HVAC operation, after having these units installed, the NBI (Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization) ions steel away hydrogen from the pathogens, leaving them to die and leaving you with clean and healthy indoor air.
I realize that nothing is perfect, but, adding layers of sanitization for you while you are in our buildings, are important to me. We will continue to sanitize with the foggers and wiping down door handles and railings, even with the installation of these air purification units.
These were costly units:
Parish Community Center (the Gym) including McIntyre Room $4,500.00
IHM Grade School (top floor, middle level floor, All Purpose Room) $9,000.00
IHM School Building Basement computer center and classroom $2,200.00
IHM School lower level (Pre-K, Kdg, 1st grade and Restroom) $1,100.00
IHM School Learning Center $1,100.00
IHM Church including Church Hall $9,000.00
The decision to do this was made with the announcement of grant money (approximately $29,000.00) from the Federal Government which was to help open schools and provide a safe and sanitized building for students. Unfortunately, that announcement for grant money was rescinded. While all of us were saddened with that decision by the Federal Government to overturn this grant, IHM will now have to use UNRESTRICTED SAVINGS to pay for these important air purification units.
God is good and we will get by.
Many blessings,
Father Jim
