Dear Parishioners,
The eighth graders of our parish are in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. They work on “church community service” as part of their preparation realizing that to “belong” to a church means getting involved in the projects, ministry, and activities of their parish.
They are instructed during their PSR and day school classrooms about the particulars of this sacrament. They also attend a couple of formation sessions together and likewise attend a confirmation retreat.
The date of their Confirmation Mass is Sunday, March 4th, 2018 at the Sunday 4:30pm Life Teen Mass. Bishop Martin Amos, formerly the Bishop of Davenport, Iowa now residing in retirement here in the Diocese of Cleveland will be the Presider for their mass.
The Life Teen musicians will lead the congregation for worship at this very special confirmation mass.
Bishop Amos was originally a Cleveland native and priest in our diocese. He was elevated many years ago as Auxiliary Bishop of Cleveland, living in Akron, Ohio serving as an auxiliary bishop and ministering to the needs of Summit County before being made the Ordinary Bishop of Davenport, Iowa.
Our parish secretary, Julie Bowling, when Bishop Amos was living in Akron and serving as an auxiliary bishop, was his secretary. She has fond memories of working for him.
I look forward to hosting Bishop Amos and renewing our ties of friendship.
Many blessings,
Father Jim
