The Most Holy Trinity Homily – June 15, 2025

Trinity Sunday ©
INTRO: My Father was called:
DAD
Sometimes: DADDY
Or POPS

My mom of course called him JOHN.
And He called my mom: PEACH.

Everybody has a name ……. A “given” name or a nickname!

The names of GOD
It is what we celebrate today!

“Oh Lord our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth!”

But the name of JESUS, when we say it …
or the name of G O D
when we address GOD in prayer:
• Bring comfort,
• Consolation,
• Satisfaction,
• Peace and
• Assistance.

People use all different names for GOD when they pray, for instance:
• Oh God, you are the source of all-good…….
• Jesus’ son of David have pity on me……….
• Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful………
• Our Father who art in heaven………….

When we pray using GOD’S NAME, we VENERATE GOD! And is not that what any Catholic and Christian should be about EVERYDAY…venerating GOD!

Other than the PSALM we sang today, there is one text from the New Testament which is of special importance for the veneration of God when we use the name of JESUS. It reminds us of WHO REALLY IS “IN CHARGE”!
Saint Paul’s great text:
“At the name of Jesus every knee should bend, and every head shall bow, of those that are in heaven, on earth, and under the earth.”
CONCLUSION

BEAUTIFUL for US to bow our heads and bend our knees to the name of GOD, every day in prayer.
