Third Sunday in Advent ©
INTRO:
1. Empty the dishwasher
2. Take out the Garbage
3. Clean your room
4. Walk the dog
These are the typical “kid chores” at home!!! Kids are supposed to do these, for the most part, without having to be told. It teaches them responsibility by “belonging to a family that works together”!
So, PARENTS, “How’s that going?” In the grading system… are they:
Satisfactory
Unsatisfactory
Do your children get an:
A
B
C
D
Or
F
Now KIDS… your parents have chores too!
According to this GOSPEL, they are to:
1. Share with others who HAVE NOTHING
2. Stop taking more money than you are supposed to
3. Don’t falsely accuse anyone
4. Be satisfied with you wages
How do you think they are doing???
John the Baptist presented to the community these 4 different CHORES, if you will, for adults and their personal conversion.
Remember the Baptist was the one who said:
REPENT
REFORM YOUR LIVES
INITIATE A CONVERSION in yourselves
Before it’s too late.
If one “boils it all down” ……… kids and adults doing all these different chores are good. But what if……..
EACH ONE OF US SIMPLY BECOMES MORE LOVEABLE???
MORE FRIENDLY???
MORE AMIABLE???
MORE CORDIAL???
MORE SOCIABLE???
MORE GOOD HUMORED???
I would think, “The specific chores” then, would fall into place.
Being more loveable….. GOSH, if each can do this today and everyday….
-would there be “race” problems?
-would there be WAR?
-would there be injustices in society?
CONCLUSION
John the Baptist and ADVENT ask us to become better and basically if each of us takes a “tally” as to how loveable we are a lot more good in the KINGDOM, in the world, can happen.
Rejoice in the Lord always! BE LOVEABLE!
