Feast of the Immaculate Conception – December 8, 2018

Immaculate Conception © Homily

INTRO: How many of you have BROTHERS OR SISTERS??? I am sure many of you do!

I have THREE SISTERS and ONE BROTHER. Remember the ONE BROTHER is my twin!!! And he’s a priest as well.

My brother’s name is JOHNNY!

Is there anyone here whose name is …. John???

Well, JOHNNY used to BUG ME as a youngster. This is what he would do… he would pester me with questions, when I wanted to be alone.

1. Jimmy, do you want to go ride bikes?
2. Jimmy, can you help me with my homework?
3. Jimmy, will you go with me to .. wherever?

I would always say……… NO! Leave me alone. DON’T BUG ME!!

Has any of you ever done that?

Well we are here celebrating Mary…. And her everlasting YES.

You see no matter what we are taught by MARY and her Son Jesus to

ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE

ALWAYS SAY YES to helping, joining in a good project, be friending one another….

That’s the Christian way of life….being available and not closing ourselves off, or closing our doors, or closing our minds to people who may be different than us…

OPENNESS
AVAILABLE
ACCESSIBLE

May this HOLY DAY cause us all to think twice before we say NO!
