Pastor Letter – Summer Project – January 12, 2020

Dear Parishioners,

ALL PURPOSE ROOM / IHM SCHOOL CAFETERIA
A SUMMER PROJECT 2020

IHM School and Parish have been blessed in the past number of years to being rewarded with ROOTED IN FAITH grant monies. In particular the EDUCATION GRANT has helped equip our day school with technology and most recently has helped us upgrade the school classrooms to a 21st century appearance featuring new desks, collaborative work stations, fresh paint, and activity tables.

The Principal, IHM’s Finance Council, and Parish Council have affirmed this current goal to keep upgrading classroom learning and collaboration with this kind of updated environment. We have heard positive comments from students and their parents! We have heard many compliments from Alums of the school and Grandparents of our students!

Following this same goal to keep upgrading our school environment we are now planning to upgrade the school cafeteria/parish meeting room, which is called THE ALL PURPOSE ROOM! This 3,400 square footed room is old and tired looking, yet, kept clean as possible. It needs new flooring, LED lighting, new sound barrier wall covering, available technology for parish meetings, and painted. This room is well used throughout the year, almost on a daily basis, even when school is not in session.

A project of this size and expense needs approval and permission from the Diocesan Bishop and the Diocesan Facilities Corporation. As a reminder, I, the Pastor am the steward of the Bishop’s property here at IHM and need to communicate this kind of “change” to his property as well as gain his approval and permission. Such approval and permission has been obtained.

So this is an exciting project for us at IHM. David Pelligra, Architect, is a member of our finance council and has agreed to manage this renewal of our All Purpose Room obtaining proposals to gain what this project will cost.

IHM has some financial support from its ROOTED IN FAITH savings and some financial support of the PAG (Parents Assistance Group) obtained from the 2020 5K.

I will also be asking you, the parishioners for some voluntary financial contributions at a later date.

Many blessings,
Father Jim
