Pentecost Sunday – Emailed May 28, 2020

Dear Parishioners,

Thanks for all your FLOCK NOTE comments over the last few weeks. Your positive attitude about how IHM is getting ready for Pentecost Sunday has lifted my spirits and helped me sail along. Although not perfect we ARE doing all for your safety, health, and spiritual well-being.

I do want all of you to once again be in church and receive the Body of Christ, but, the s l o w – p h a s e plan that we have worked on is best for all of us so that we can one day accomplish that goal. This slow-phase plan includes only two weekend Masses this weekend with 60 years or older remaining at home, social distance seating to observe, and watching the mass-goers abiding by the entry/exit floor plan that is in place.

IHM will take this weekend into consideration as to what the following weekends will become.

The feast of Pentecost reminds us that we are not alone to experience the workings of the church as begun by Jesus Christ. The image of the disciples and Mary seated in the Upper Room out of fear reminds me of the many in our world, because of the pandemic which is still at large, who are in fear for their lives; whether healthcare workers, EMT’s, hospital employees, doctors, our elderly, and those who have been affected by the virus, all sit and wait for the blowing wind of the Spirit to set us free. Only TIME will tell for us and with patient endurance, supplied by God, will we all overcome this situation in our lives.

Many blessings,
Father Jim
