Pastor Letter – Parish School of Religion – Emailed September 1, 2023

Dear Parishioners,

Let me inform you about a “building” change concerning PSR.

As part of the Keeping the Faith (KTF) initiative launched by the Cleveland Diocese last January, IHM is now a member of the KTF: Parish Partners for Catholic Education, which is comprised of IHM, St. Joseph Parish, St. Eugene Parish, Holy Family Parish, and Our Lady of Victory Parish.

This partnership of five parishes works to strengthen the Catholic Education initiatives including our Parish School of Religion (PSR).

After careful review, myself, along with Fr. Jared Orndorff, pastor of St. Joseph Parish, I would like to introduce the 2023-24 Parish Partners for Catholic Education PSR program which will take place at the Saint Joseph Parish campus. The PSR program is:
A more dynamic and flexible program to suit families’ busy schedules.
A program that provides additional resources and support for students and catechists
A program with a building having dedicated rooms for PSR classes and activities.
A program with a parent lounge for relaxing, working, or learning more about your student’s curriculum.

PSR classes will remain on Sundays from 11:15am – 12:30pm, 1-3 times a month from August to May. While still using the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies Curriculum, PSR will also incorporate more dynamic activities that are part of the Faith! Family! Fun! Series.

This partnership will keep the talents of our current IHM catechists while simply using a different building. In other words, it is a group PSR program, five parish PSR families coming together in one location. It is the same program that IHM has had for the past two years.

While the partnership was offered to all five parishes, at this time ours and Saint Joe’s are working together. Please understand, it is not a Saint Joe’s PSR, nor is it an IHM PSR, but two parish partners for catholic education sharing resources on the Saint Joseph campus.

Many blessings,
Father Jim
