Pastor Letter – Update from Fr. Jim – March 22, 2020

Dear Parishioners,

I miss you! How things have changed! I was taught early on: “It is how we go through things and situations that matters.” Keep your spirits up, laugh at something, pray a little more, and be wise. All of us are experiencing a loss of some kind in this desert experience of remaining at home and social distancing. I am sure your anxiety level has risen, too. With God and through patient endurance we will overcome this!

Further on in this bulletin you can find all the different ways to view Mass or utilize your time with more prayer.

Concerning the scheduled Masses with intentions that have been cancelled I am planning to reschedule them, but, unfortunately NOT AT THIS TIME. Our parish office is closed and since we do not know when the threat of this virus will end it is wise to WAIT on the rescheduling.

While the church building is CLOSED until after Easter Sunday, as it stands now, our maintenance crew, who remains healthy and employed, will spend significant efforts at deep cleaning and sanitizing our church building. Having the church LOCKED keeps many people from entering the church building for a visit who just may likely be carriers of the virus.

So many things to consider!

For the twelve members of RCIA, their loss of entering the church and in full communion with us because there will be no Easter Vigil this year, will be lightened when Brian Kudro, Jeff Mills, and I can reschedule these liturgies of Christian Initiation. Again, we cannot foresee the end of this virus and need to wait this out.

Likewise, our third annual parish service day, CHRIST ON THE CORNER, scheduled for Saturday, May 9th, 2020 has been cancelled and we look forward to re-scheduling, but, no date has been determined. And ALL parish meetings have been suspended until further notice. Bringing people together in large groups just cannot be done!

Daily there has been so much communication from our diocesan legal office and office of worship that assists me as pastor for which I am most grateful.

Many blessings in these unprecedented times,
Father Jim
