INTRO:

The kids in our neighborhood and I played “cops and robbers” …. dressing up as so….and we played “lost in space” acting out the characters and dreaming up our own episodes and we imitated the old and famous, “BATMAN AND ROBIN” stories!!!!

Typically, it was an afternoon of fun and games dressing up and playing.

How about YOU… have you ever played “DRESS UP”?

Well, today’s feast does not ask us to play dress up, but it does ask us to act in a certain way and to think in a certain way watching our actions, our thoughts, and our deeds.

While Jesus Christ is our first one to imitate in our actions, but so are Ss. Peter and Paul whom we commemorate today.

Like Jesus, they both have a certain “savoir faire.”

St. Peter who is famous for acting with authority as our first pope and giving that acting authority to every pope that follows him teaches us to “act at home and in our workplaces” with authority or simply identifying “RIGHT FROM WRONG” and acting “rightly” while showing others our right actions.

Again, acting rightly in imitation of what we know and have learned about JESUS CHRIST.

On the other hand, St. Paul, was the intellectual, struck down, he then awoke with a new thinking and that thinking was to now RELY on Jesus Christ in and for everything.

Many people get “tempted” and “forgetful” of this important reliance on Jesus, especially when a hardship comes. We rely on doctors, which is good; we rely on family, which is good, but we are to add to those important people in our lives the reliance on the spiritual direction of Jesus Christ during our lives.

CONCLUSION

So, acting rightly and not wrongly is an important reminder today. We are as well being called to remember to rely on Jesus Christ in our good times and in troubled times, and when we get sick, but then again when times are all good.

Thank you, Ss. Peter, and Paul!
