FEAST OF THE TRANSFIGURATION
OF THE LORD (A)

INTRO:

A top level executive was dashing through the airport to catch a plane, when he discovered he‘d forgot his watch!!!!

As he was hurrying thru the airport he stopped a stranger to ask the time. The stranger smiled and set down his 2 very large suitcases and then consulted his watch….. Which was thin and handsome.

He said:
It’s EXACTLY 5:09pm
The temp is 73 degrees
And it will rain tonight….
In London the sky is clear and the temp is 38 degrees Celsius.
The DOW JONES is up 35 points…..

The executive interrupted and said:
“Your watch tells you ALL THAT!!!!”
“Oh yes, and much more! You see I invented it and it is the only one in the world.”
“I MUST have that watch!” I’LL give you $2000 for it right now!”
“Sorry, it’s not for sale.”
“$4,000, in cash,” countered the gentleman.
“No,” said the inventor, “I made it for my son’s birthday.”
“Okay, it’s my last offer. I’ll give you $10,000
For that watch!!!!”

The inventor paused…………………..
“OK, it’s yours for $10,000!!!”

The businessman was elated as he took that VERY THIN, handsome watch, and snapped it on his wrist. He looked at the stranger and said…
“Thank you very much; you should be very proud of yourself!”
And then as he turned to go… the inventor said……

“Hey, WAIT A MINUTE,”
and he started, DRAGGING OVER THE TWO HEAVY SUITCASES…….
“YOU FORGOT THE BATTERIES!”

Sometimes – we don’t see EVERYTHING!!!!

For most of us it is in our human nature to rush around accomplishing many “duties”, “obligations” and “commitments” and when we do this we MISS A LOT as we rush about. And then we MISS important things about people!!!!!

Jesus gives an opportunity to the Apostles to SEE WHO HE REALLY WAS…God of the past, present, and future!

And teaches us to LOOK CAREFULLY at people.
Take time and effort to see the FULL PICTURE of other people and be careful of judgments, especially the judgements of our minds.
We are all made in God’s image and likeness and our compassion should elevate a true and loving picture of all people.

CONCLUSION

Perhaps there is someone whom we have misjudged. Re-look at them with compassion today. Allow the Lord Jesus to change your minds on them so you can live more beautifully in unity as Jesus wants.
