INTRO: Did you ever have to “HIRE” someone?

In the hiring process it is important to allow the person … the one considering the job “to talk.” You can find out a lot about a person if they just talk and talk, while you listen.

LET THE PERSON TALK is the key!

So today, in this section of LUKE’S gospel:

“The Apostles said to the Lord, increase our faith!”

What the Apostles were really asking was to become more familiar with Jesus. They wanted to know increasingly more about him. They were saying, in so many words,
“TALK TO ME, JESUS!”
“TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOURSELF!”

They were not really hiring him ………. But they were trying to BOND WITH HIM when they said: “Increase our faith!”

They wanted to know more about Him if they were going to follow Him, especially if they were going to leave everything, they wanted to be sure if Jesus was the right one to follow.

So, they ask:
INCREASE OUR FAITH,

Or, in other words, INCREASE OUR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT YOU. LET US HAVE A DEEPER relationship with you.

Today, people should be saying:

I want to know more about, Jesus!

Thus, the story of the mustard seed in this Gospel, which is the smallest of seeds and when planted a surprisingly HUGE long root system is created…its scientifically miraculous and the tree is HUGE!

CONCLUSION:

So, Catholics, we should always be LISTENING TO JESUS whether through reading the Bible, His WORDS, or in humble contemplation.

We should never give up on wanting to:
INCREASE OUR FRIENDSHIP WITH JESUS by learning more about Him.

Wonderful things happen in our world when our friendship with Jesus grows larger.

Listen to Him and Learn about Him.
